New Players! First impressions - Why isn't this game more popular?

    Hey everyone at GE!

We'd been requested to jump into this game and record a video of it by our viewers and we did. It turns out we ended up having a lot more fun playing Granado Espada than we thought - it's an absolutely beautiful looking game and the combat is so fun and unique I was shocked that there were literally no other players around.

Why is that? I'm genuinely curious what about the game made it so unpopular? Was it that the game is pay to win? A huge grind? Just bad advertising? Because we had an absolute blast!

Hopefully you guys don't think the video is too cringe and you all enjoy the (positive) publicity! haha

    Regards,
    Stix.

Well, GEEU is nowhere near grind comparing to SOTNW.

Yes, grinding is in the game. Yes, the game was made for having slow progress. But enjoy your quests styled like they are and leave grinding for AFK times.

For PvP - want to play on same terms, go with Fixed. Want to appreciate your gear - go for Normal.
PvE - just play on, nothing is impossible. I've met people that passed half Armonia quest line using Cresementos.

Cash Shop - not nearly everything is in CS. Most stuff you need you have to find ingame. Most of CS items are found ingame anyways.

    These are no problems.

So, what is your answer to original post ?

IMC admitted their fault (problems) with Renaissance #1 and #2.
The 1st time is quite successful, they removed most cash items from game but after that, they ruined the game again by raising level cap and new milking model. In 7 years, they ran game in this circle (new char > new stance > new map > new char > ..... ) until 2nd Renaissance. The 2nd screwed game mechanism from P2W to P2W + Grinding more.
Beware of losing player base, IMC decided to apply some functions of "Infinity" update ( this update didnt exist in kGE ) after see its glory. But they still cant find their goal or escape from crisis, you can see they drop their favor on GE since Brestia, they gave smaller update, slower update and former GE team was making TOS at that time.

According to IMC, the quest processing dropped dramatically at byron quest line ( in another words, players quit the game before they finish viron quest line )

The game is fun, unique, and beautiful indeed. It was also quite popular on release in the west. However, someone decided to make the game b2p with a subscription and a cash shop with some cosmetics which wasn't too bad at the time because the game was indeed addictive, but for some odd reason someone decided to tear that wall down, throw in a lot of rng/gambling, and made it pay2win. Unlike their east counterpart, western players are not addicted to gambling. Especially US players where they're charged more on ingame cash/dollar/item ratio compared to korea/japan. Throwing 100 USD into the casino toilet isnt the same as doing it korea/japan.

Ironically the way Granado Espada started off reminds me of BDO, Hopefully BDO doesn't follow the same path with the gambling/p2w system.

Well yes the game is amazing, but popularity issue is way back in the past. First of it wasn't introduced by any successful publisher in the west. And as many mentioned the publishers were more interested into getting more cash out of players rather than bringing healthy environment. Also where were literally no advertising. So what you see here (GEEU) is most successful publisher in the west, which gives more attention to the player base, and does additional promotions (as for example we have several players releasing videos about the game constantly).

And at given moment we do have a bit worse graphics (people are used to shiny things in all new titles). So I bet aesthetics are one of the question marks why people aren't diving head first into the game. And players has to invest a bit more time to get a decent start as well, as GE still sort off kept the same progression curve as it used to have in the start (well it's a lot easier now than it used to be, but not where as easy as for example WoW vanilla content now). But I actually like this, as all other mmorpg's currently are mostly are all about getting to the max level asap, as all content before it is mostly irrelevant, meanwhile here breaking through each level/item cap makes you feel satisfied more often. Well but it might use some fixing as well.

Heya, glad you liked it . about no players - yes there are (a lot now actually). game is fast paced in low levels now, so you only see players questing in those low level maps, there is an event that gives experience card that makes your chars level up instantly up to masters. it's popular still for old timers that's why it got requested in your channel i suppose xD. most players here are not complete newbie most have tried the game ages ago.

i guess the lack of promoting the game in the market made it not popular for newbies. and the learning curve for newbies is quite a challenge but the community is good enough to help them if they seek out help...

so yep, as i read in your video's comment section only old timers know of the game haha. GE players can't simply quit GE, they just go on hiatus, that's why it's still here after 11 years .

GE is basically for "rich players" i mean cmon. You have to gear up 3 characters. 2 for dps. Dps needs 5 weapons each. Each item will cost you a lot. And ge have a lot of variety of characters. i.e. You want to switch toons, then you have to gear that toon up for you to enjoy it more. Even if u say you can free farm those items. Game is still 80% gamble. "I would say 100% gamble but im being generous". Some players would just quit and play easier games.
The game has a lot of toons to choose from. You would want to try others from time to time but your gears wont 😂 thats just "meh"
This is just an expensive game for "in denial gamblers" 😂😁😁
But hey. Im having fun with the game been a player for yeaaaars.

i never paid a cent for the game since 2006 lol... i agree with gamble system tho. it's pretty heavy in this game, but game can still be played completely free. it just takes time ofc and a lot of effort to be somewhat relevant in the ge world . csers/f2p both are equally important for the server to stay up and running.
