    Hey Volfran,

I faced the same problems as you did. Further below you find a solution but I don't take any responsibility for damages caused to your system.

The Message "Different Version..." appears because the recent update didn't succeed. As you mentioned a reinstalling didnt fix the problem. I use windows defender as security system. The problem occurs because the security system identifies one component of navyfield as a virus and puts it into quarantine.

One solution for this problem is mentioned in the following steps:
    1. delete nf from your pc.
    2. download nf again (if you still have the installer on your pc you can skip this step)
    3. deactivate your security program while installing and patching nf (not while downloading!)
    4. the update should succeed and you should be able to log in
    5. log of again and activate your security system again
    6. run navyfield once (it should crash now)
    7. go to the settings of your security program and search for a recent found file (should has either something with nf in his name or the timestamp from the moment you tried to launch nf)
    8. your security either blocked the file or put it into quarantine. Allow this file to execute (I mean: take it out of the quarantine)
    9. everything should work normally now =)
