Yeah I've been wanting to complain about this for a while but the game overall has become so much slower for me these days. The loading times everywhere are just insane, and especially in the newer areas. When I have to re-enter Imperium Arma for instance just to beat a certain boss I'm having trouble with and keep losing to, I lose so so so much time just because I have to wait like seriously 40 seconds or something for the area to load. I have expensive ampule buffs running and this really doesn't help, because the timers of the buffs keep going even though I'm on a loading screen. I want to like this game and I've been playing it for years sporadically and I really want to at least finish the new scenario before I take a break but it's becoming harder for me to play this. Granted, I don't have a gaming PC but even with the lowest graphics settings it's still a drag and it just didn't used to be nearly this bad even in the past with graphics settings at max.
To be honest, i think that loading time is something more HDD\RAM-dependent then GPU\CPU dependent.
There`s many things about that. The update system in GE is pure madness, horror and terror. Client isn`t even cleaning the old versions of the files, which makes the client grow to giant sizes while it`s not even needed.
For example, dictionary.ipf sometimes can grow up to 0,5 GB, while the real volume of the data inside is ...around 15 mb compressed by IPF format into 2-3 mb file. That`s 250 times higher then the actual amount of data needed to use the client.
You can find some old or new kits (like on starstorm blog) to clean all the unneeded data from your client, which will make some parts of it lose a major part of its volume.
Defragmentation (if the client is stored on HDD, do not defragment your SSD if you`re using one) is sometime an option too.
That's great info, thanks!! I've been looking at getting a gaming PC but it's not that necessary since I'm too busy playstationing atm, so maybe an SSD would help with this particular issue. I should also do some defragging, totally forgot about that lol.
